按照官方网站的介绍, Windows Defender 是一款免费的软件。功能包括防止弹出窗口,使性能降低的程序，间谍软件，以及其他不必要的程序。技术上采取实时保护的方式。目前推出了Windows Xp 和Windows Server 2003的版本。
